GUESS WHAT I FOUND

It's all enough to make this first-born, type-A, straight-A, single-momming, self-employed girl want to hole up, buckle down and take care of things. Make things better. Fix things. Soothe things. Prevent things. Get things done. Check things off the list. All while clenching her fists and holding her breath until maybe, someday, the list will be a little less long and the needs a little lighter.

THE LIVING ROOM LATEST

Because sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words. Or keystrokes. And because why not combine two of my faves: vintage typewriters and vintage needlework. And because the typewriter was only $3.75 and the needlework has been floating around R-house looking for a place to land. I say yes. __ I hope your week [...]

I GOT THE WATER

Because, really. It’s Day Six. Still feeling that 10-ton rhino. Still moving my body. Hope things are good on your end, friends. xo by julie rybarczyk

DANCING SHOES

I’m mixing things up here in my rhino-removal quest – a little outdoor fast-walking here, a little bike riding there, a little indoor workout here. Today, since we had snowflakes in the air (after 70ish yesterday?!), I wasn’t up for dragging my rhino outside, so I stayed in instead. Anyway, for today—day five—my 20 minutes [...]

GET OUT

That little talk I had with Miss Sarah the other day? About burnout? Well, I should probably admit the 14-hour-ish nap wasn’t specifically her idea. That was mine. Her suggestion was more on the scale of 14 minutes. Or even 14 seconds. You know, the kind of time-outs/ naps/ refreshers/ soul savers that can literally [...]

SOMETHING YUMMY

It happens so rarely around here. And, so, I celebrate. What’s the occasion, you ask? I baked something! And if R-girl, my pastry connoisseur, came back for seconds, and thirds, and then had to be deterred from eating too many at once, I consider that a smashing success. That and the fact that these muffins are [...]

NOT YOUR TYPICAL CAMP FOOD

I am soooo not an expert camper, especially when it comes to food. And all that easy stuff that used to tide me over—hot dogs, Doritos, Pop Tarts—yeah, not doin it for me anymore. Blech. So when it came to trying to pack healthy, yummy, easy-to-prep foods, I felt a little challenged. I decided to [...]

LOOKIN’ GOOD

I’m feeling kinda great about this list I just found on the GOOD blog. Even though it’s called “The 10 Best Foods for Your Looks” I’m figuring if these things are good for my looks, they’re probably just good for me in general, right? And, hey, if I can look better and be healthier at [...]

TO MARKET

I’m thanking God for farmers. And fresh, organic produce that nourishes my body and feeds my soul. And for the Minneapolis Farmer’s Market on Saturday with R-kids. Yummy. Fun. We’ll be back. After all, this is what we waited all winter for. by julie rybarczyk __ photos by R-girl

FRESH IDEAS

Ok, so I’m a little jealous of Centsational Girl who is already able to browse her local farmer’s market for beautiful, delicious surprises – and snap these amazing shots of real food and fresh flowers: I can’t wait until I start seeing those same sights here in Minnesota. And, with a few changes I’m hoping [...]
