DINNER PARTY

At some point this weekend,
there was talk of how sharing a meal
[breaking bread]
together

chili night | shorts and longs | julie rybarczyk

is both exceptionally
ordinary
and beautifully
sacred

Not ordinary at all

To raise a glass
together

To sit knee to knee
or thigh to thigh
together

To experience hunger
and then flavor
and then fullness
together

It says something

Does something

That perhaps
has something to do with peace
or acceptance
or openness
or vulnerability
or generosity
or common ground

Or, sometimes, love

Or just plain fun

Whatever it is,
I find a meal shared
to be
so deliciously
lovely

Especially when that meal is prepared for you

by someone else

Thanks, Em. And, yum.

And you are welcome my dear friend! And I mean welcome anytime!! I’ll keep a pot of anything garlic free on the stove top burning.
